Tobias Delius and Michiel Scheen found each other in 1983 through their shared love for the jazz tradition and improvisatory adventure. From the first sounds in their set they deep-dive into the undertaking and fleet-footed pass on references to Fats Waller, Ben Webster, Duke Ellington, Don Byas, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Cecil Taylor, Archie Shepp and Misha Mengelberg. Original themes are also used situationally. The musical course is always open and with playful eagerness they draw the listener into a dynamic whole, the result of which is only known afterwards.

Tobias Delius (1964, Oxford - clarinet, tenorsax) began playing the tenor saxophone in the Ruhrgebiet, Germany. It was in Mexico City and especially in Amsterdam that he developed his very personal style. He now lives in Berlin. For more than 20 years, he led his highly acclaimed Quartet with Han Bennink, Joe Williamson & Tristan Honsinger, with 4 CDs on the ICP label. He is a member of the trio Booklet (with Joe Williamson and drummer Steve Heather) and the ICP Orchestra. His improvisations can be heard in a very wide variety of contexts with musicians from all over the globe. . 

Michiel Scheen (1963, Amsterdam - piano) worked within many leading formations in improvised music, for instance with Maarten Altena, Guus Janssen, Misha Mengelberg, Paul Termos and in many international ensembles. In 2012 he joined Raoul van der Weide (bass, cracklebox, sound objects) and George Hadow (drums) in the Blue Lines Trio, initiated by Van der Weide. In 2016 the trio worked with Ada Rave (tenorsaxophone), Bart Maris (trumpets) and Wolter Wierbos (trombone) in the Blue Lines Sextet. The trio now works with guest player Mary Oliver. Scheen also works with the Jan Nijdam Quartet.

Tobias Delius en Michiel Scheen vonden elkaar in 1983 in hun gezamenlijke liefde voor de jazztraditie en improvisatorisch avontuur. Vanaf de eerste klanken in hun set duiken zij de diepte in en laten op lichtvoetige wijze referenties aan Fats Waller, Ben Webster, Duke Ellington, Don Byas, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Cecil Taylor, Archie Shepp en Misha Mengelberg passeren. Ook eigen thema's worden situationeel ingezet. Het muzikale parcours ligt altijd open en met speelse gretigheid nemen zij de luisteraar mee in een dynamisch geheel, waarvan het klinkend resultaat pas na afloop bekend is.

Michiel Scheen (1963, Amsterdam - piano) werkte in vele toonaangevende formaties in de geïmproviseerde muziek, bijvoorbeeld met Maarten Altena, Guus Janssen, Misha Mengelberg, Paul Termos en in vele internationale ensembles.In 2012 voegde hij zich bij Raoul van der Weide (bas, cracklebox, geluidsobjecten) en George Hadow (drums) in het BlueLines Trio, geïnitieerd door Van der Weide. In 2016 werkte het trio op projectbasis met Ada Rave (tenorsaxofoon), Bart Maris (trompetten) en Wolter Wierbos (trombone) als het Blue Lines Sextet. Tegenwoordig treedt het trio op met gastspeler Mary Oliver. Scheen speelt ook in het Jan Nijdam Kwartet.
